If Melville had written Moby Dick today Ishmael would have been a screen name and it would have been probably filmed on an iPhone rather than inked into our hearts. People might actually remember though that Ishmael was in fact not Captain Ahab but rather the lucky individual present at the time of an emergency at sea. That’s what security specialists are really, they’re the narrative and this narrator wants to do things better. So let me set the stage. Pueblo West Security is going to change the face of security by helping to redefine the concept. Security has unfortunately not grown out of its infancy and still overwhelmingly invests in Hollywood crafted constructs, more specifically toxic masculinity and the proliferation of fear tactics. All PWS PROS are victim advocates who maintain an emphasis on professionalism and joy. Pueblo West Security plans to secure business models that are future proofed not antiquated. We will also not charge fees at market rate we will seek alternative funding that reduces member expenses to zero when possible. We will retain the lion share of member fees in order to fulfill matching fund requirements for federal and state grant. We will seek grant funds through sources that are vertically invested such as the Crime Victim Services Fund or CVS grants. So call me and lets talk about your ”White Whale” and maybe the next story I can tell will be about how a captain of industry changed the way the world handles that type of hazard in the future rather than the usual cautionary narrative. And we can use this opportunity to grow together as a community.
